You're listening to special programming brought to you by it's where I am.com The content of this program does not reflect the views or opinions of 91.5 Jazz and more the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, or the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Zandra Polard 0:54
Good morning, Las Vegas, it's Zondra Pohlad with hits where I am. Today. My guests are Trey from the dog pound. He has a talent, pound in Las Vegas

Unknown Speaker 1:08
production company or entertainment company in Las Vegas.

Zandra Polard 1:13
Thank you. Thank you. And then we also have Marcus who is a part of hoop shots. TV as coach markets. Coach Mark, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So again, this is Dr. Paul lard with 91.5 Jazz and more than number one smooth jazz station in the nation. And I have one of my school buddies here from Fairfax. Hi, again, it's Trey from the Dogpound. We invited me here, actually both, both of them. Because Victor battle manager, casting director, talent scout, he was here just last week, and he was telling us about some of the things, some of the things that he's doing here in town. And so I invited these other gentlemen here to let you all know how they are all working together in the city of Las Vegas. So try, we're gonna start with you. I want you to tell us more about your production company.

Unknown Speaker 2:20
Well, you know, I came out here about 22 years ago 2001 from Los Angeles, you know to put an E ciders contract with Trey a concert together with Trey Gowdy and I just stuck up out here you know, the city is a wide open for business is wide open for entertainment is just somewhere that I need to be I can't see me being at no other place. For real though in Las Vegas. And what we do at the production company we doing photography, we doing music videos, we added in, we're doing podcast we did fashion shows, private events, and just everything that you need. I have a big, big facility downtown, I moved from the Raider stadium. So right now the doors is open and ready for y'all to come on in. If you want to learn how to get in movies and films, my business partner Victor battle hoops shots, television is who I deal with for film. And we come in together, we cast in some movies that's coming out, I got to feel more slim movie, starring Mike Epps, and also a movie called downward departure with my god, Chuck. So those are the next two movie castings that we'll be doing, featuring Mike Epps and these two films. And I'm just honored to be here today. Pleasure to meet you. Awesome.

Zandra Polard 3:33
That was a lot of information. So if people want to see because I know I got to see your studio online. Did you want to give your online information?

Unknown Speaker 3:46
Well, you can always go to Thailand lb.com, that's t a l e n t pound.com. And everything will be updated on there. You can see the next coming up events and how to contact with me for studio time. We have music studio in there as well. So so

Zandra Polard 4:02
I know Victor gave me some sides. And I'm going to be doing my first audition. So I'll keep you guys posted. Let's see if I can get it. So anyhow, so you will hear from was the place fit? Does it fit the sense people for from GE unity Business Lab. So we were talking about discussing his model of what he's doing out there for the Houston Independent School District out there. And they're doing some fantastic things. And I just wanted to share what we're doing in Las Vegas as well, because we're doing some stuff. You know, we're doing some stuff. So Marcus is here as well. He's a part of hoop shots TV and tell the listeners what you're doing over there.

Unknown Speaker 4:53
I moved here from Compton, California and about 30 years ago. Benco Which in basketball for about 27 years, little bit over 27 years. I hooked up with battle about Trey was about three, four years ago. But probably more than that, but

Zandra Polard 5:14
wow, it seems like you guys have been together a long time. Yeah. When I met you, yeah, yeah. Shout out to Val from Val TV. Yeah,

Unknown Speaker 5:23
whatever. So yeah, so we got together because I was, I owned a gym here in town. And I own the semi pro basketball team called the Henderson hawks and my reach to a lot of players out here because of his company casting basketball players. It just worked because I was able to reach out to the basketball players here in town to to help them not only with the basketball side of it, but you know, they might have talent and acting and stuff like that. So we're using my gym to, to host casting calls for different films and things like that. And we, we grew from there. I got out of the pro scene. So yeah, so I kind of stepped away from the pro side of it, but we still host different different events for who shots and now I am I just open a year ago, my my prep school here in town. Okay,

Unknown Speaker 6:26
prep school. Tell me more about that. So we, we,

Unknown Speaker 6:29
I noticed there's a gray area when when these players get out of school, and they didn't, you know, didn't get any offers from colleges and things like that. Okay, so I wanted to help in that situation. So there would postgrads you know, they could get out get out of school, their grades either aren't to the level where they need to be to get in college or there.

Zandra Polard 6:53
Because we have a serious situation here with education in Las Vegas man

Unknown Speaker 6:57
is bad. And so, as well as athleticism. So what we do is we take them out and keep them for that fifth year, that gap year, okay, and keep them going until they have one year after they graduate before their time starts for college. Okay, so we develop them athletics, athletically, as well as education, and we develop them that way. So after that fifth year, we can get him into a JUCO or do you want to college and so with that, we we started Paragon Academy. Okay. And it's been I have to, well, three international students that live with me now. Oh, my goodness. Okay. And so it's been a great run. And we've been able to get out of 12 players this year that that would that was with me, we were able to get five of them into to college, from D one to d3. Wonderful. 3.7 and 4.0 Grade Point, average wonder fall. And today. It's crazy that we're all because I'm excited about this today. We got a credit.

Zandra Polard 8:09
Nice, you heard it here y'all on it's where I am, are gone Academy. That's right, upgraded it. Yes. And if you are not an athlete, and you just have the looks, you can still get in contact Marcus, because maybe there's some acting or some modeling, yes, that you can do, you can pretend to be an athlete,

Unknown Speaker 8:32
or you can dribble the ball and not

Zandra Polard 8:37
you know, and if you are not an athlete at all, and maybe you want to try your talents in singing or rapping, then you want to get in touch with Trey

Unknown Speaker 8:47
definitely gonna put you together and teach you how to read some scripts, understanding the movie rows and how to play your part in film. And that's the key thing that we do at our company we do artists development, we're here to develop the artists so they can understand how to be a professional artists and have the music and have the platform as of a professional artists that's already making in the industry. They're signed to a major label.

Zandra Polard 9:12
So what about your your training component? Because like I said, I got these sides, which is a piece of a script. But I don't have any professional acting in my background. So how would you help me? Well, I

Unknown Speaker 9:28
think most people that come from where we come from We're actors period inside of us. Now. The key thing that to describe is maybe to memorize it now you don't necessarily have to know it word for word long as it makes sense and it falls off the tongue is smooth as you can make it it's some words can be added. Some words can be took out and then sometimes the director tell you hey, read it just like it is no change nothing up on it. So it just depends on what type of film that you're filming. But normally I add words while I take words out there just to make it sound like my real. You know? So, acting is just being real to yourself is not really like a scene, you understand what you are either you are police, your doctor, your students, you know, you know, that's your role that you're actually planning is you just be it you know, it comes out naturally. You just have to block out the cameras and the people that's in your face and learn how to just make you seem like he's a regular conversation with somebody.

Zandra Polard 10:35
Oh, okay, well, I'm gonna take all that in and get prepared for my audition that's coming up here this week. So I thank you for that piece of advice. Now, you're working with students starting at what age?

Unknown Speaker 10:51
We we go from five to 15? Oh, wow. Okay. I didn't know so young. Yeah, that's my babies. Okay, five to 15. And then our high school starts out from 16. Shall we go all the way to like I said postgrad to 20 years old. Okay. And we, we work with them develop them. They they go to school in the morning, strict, very strict schedule for the day they get up seven 730 in the morning and work out.

Zandra Polard 11:23
I'm thinking back about the international students you were talking about. So when did they get to you? Did they finish high school first?

Unknown Speaker 11:29
I have one to finish. Well, I've had I have today finished high school and the third one he's in high school. Okay, so we have a player from Denmark, which is Karl and

Zandra Polard 11:39
he's playing basketball. Absolutely. Okay, because I know you told me you were doing football too. Yeah.

Unknown Speaker 11:43
We added we added the football element this year, which I'm excited about. And we we ended up we ended up now on the west coast for the conference, though we have about six teams in that conference. Wow.

Zandra Polard 11:59
Yeah, I know nothing about sports. I'm not very good. I was a cheerleader. That's not all I can tell you. But

Unknown Speaker 12:05
yeah, so we got we got Carl from Denmark. And then we have Charlie from Singapore. And we just sent G home and he was from Canada. Now. Are

Zandra Polard 12:15
these guys tall?

Unknown Speaker 12:18
Yeah, I have my I think my, my babies I have two 314 year olds that 6460 My

Zandra Polard 12:27
goodness. Yeah. So is there still a chance? Is there still a chance for a kid who was a lover of basketball to you know, not be over six feet?

Unknown Speaker 12:37
Absolutely. Okay. I have a young man Micah. He just he's our first D one candidate over at Creighton University. Okay. He actually got in on a academic scholarship. 4.0 and the coach found out that he can actually play basketball too. So it was a plus. And he's 5657.

Zandra Polard 13:04
Okay, so you just have to have a love for the game. He just plays

Unknown Speaker 13:07
hard defense. Okay, yeah, we hate shots. I want to get in trouble upset. He always get in trouble for saying that. But if he's, if you're a small, a small guard, the best way to get into school is to play defense.

Zandra Polard 13:23
Okay, yeah. Well, thank you for that information. I'm going to turn it back to you Tre. AKA low pimpin.

Unknown Speaker 13:32
Yes, they do call me loop. Though, you know from the streets of Los Angeles, you know, my family called me Trey, they call me bones and in Los Angeles. The name Little Pippin comes from Michelle Leigh. And it's because I look just like my father who's the poetry man on all the Snoop and two pucks album whose name is big pimp. And so of course, being a Los Angeles native how we raised up is always you know, big pimp and little pimp and it will be a tiny PIP and infant PIP and that type

Unknown Speaker 14:03
of world will never listen to those songs. The same now?

Unknown Speaker 14:11
My daddy man Oh, PIP and Deep Mind and poetry, man. Yeah, he got the new song guy with little Eazy E and dash. That's all right now. So.

Unknown Speaker 14:19
Yeah. And

Unknown Speaker 14:22
the sun as the sun it looks just like him. That's rapping right now. Let's see in the movie music produced by Das. He was not in the in the movie. That was one of the actors. Okay, that was one of the actors he did real good as well. That play easy and NWA movie. Yeah, that was a good movie. Yeah, I seen him and it was crazy. Because right after that movie, he was liking Godzilla. You know. I was like, I'm coming up here. But definitely. Music is renewing itself. A lot of the older artists that wasn't around it's coming back out you know, they understand and they monetization when it can I'm still making money off the internet and off their YouTube presence. So as you put out more, I'm sorry, I

Zandra Polard 15:07
didn't mean to cut you off, but something resonated with me. Now, I don't even understand how to get music anymore. So you, you don't buy a record, you don't buy a CD. So

Unknown Speaker 15:17
music nowadays is like, you can pay for a subscription to YouTube music or iTunes or title, or Spotify. I Heart Radio and they buy one 999 a month and by you paying this 999 a month, say the other day Little Wayne dropped the album. So once it's dropped, you already paid your subscription, you can go listen to all this music. It's not like you can individually buy albums at Best Buy anymore, which is that's when I realized I was listening to more music Dan versus now because you know, everything is pretty much on YouTube. So if a new song come out, you can actually see the video on YouTube for actually free you know what I mean? So, from there music is everywhere. It's easy to it's easy to get but at the same time, some of these bigger companies are bigger artists they deal with streaming so they get millions and millions of stream which cuts them a check. Okay, month every month is well you know what I mean?

Zandra Polard 16:18
Got it. Got it? Yeah, cuz you know, I just tune into the radio station here because I love it so much. 91.5 chance and more

Unknown Speaker 16:27
here. Yeah, not 1.5 I got to start tuning in. That's right. Shout

Zandra Polard 16:32
out to Galaxy Glen want to say hello thing that you do? Yeah, he's

Unknown Speaker 16:37
right next door next door. When I see. Galaxy, I was shocked to see him I couldn't even lie. I think I accidentally caught him Jeep Dang, when I first saw this guy, like, that's what you guys call it? I do. But it's a comedian called G Thanks. So I don't want to call him. He's the original G. GG.

Zandra Polard 17:03
Yeah, that's my dude. You know, I invited him on this show a couple times, and you try to take over?

Unknown Speaker 17:09
He will? Yeah.

Zandra Polard 17:12
Yeah. So tell us what's coming up in your studio. I mean, it's so beautiful. I can't wait to see it in person, when Vic comes out here and does the casting call, which will start in May May, it may 1,

Unknown Speaker 17:27
the end, the end of May two, I believe he was the last Sunday of May is where we're gonna do. And basically, if you want to be in movies, learn how to become in movies and all that type of stuff, you will come to these workshops and you can set yourself up to meet different people that can help you move forward into being in film, you know what I mean? And from there, you know, it's just, it just is you're gonna start getting emails from different jobs, you're gonna get requested for different pieces of work. So you just got to be about it. And you know, and it's sometimes it's good payment, sometimes, you know, extra work, sometimes they might only want to pay you $100. But as long as you build in your resume, that's the key thing. You know, sometimes it's not all about money until you get a nice healthy resume. And then after that you can focus on all paid gigs, but you got to start somewhere. Remember that? And, you

Zandra Polard 18:16
know, I think it's a great confidence builder as well. Right? Because, you know, had mentioned before on previous shows, that I was never I knew nothing about radio. And then here I am this, I'm on my third year. So, you know, try something new, and see how it works for you.

Unknown Speaker 18:35
How long have you been out here in Las Vegas? Oh, my

Zandra Polard 18:37
goodness. And every time I get a guest that I know from back in the day, they always want to interview me

Unknown Speaker 18:43
because I've never seen you about here I thought a lot of events maybe you never come outside or you will start going outside. Trying to figure this out how you've been in this. You move to see you.

Unknown Speaker 18:56
Hi go out I

Unknown Speaker 18:57
go out. You looking fabulous to these days. I just want you to know that as well.

Zandra Polard 19:01
Thank you so much.

Unknown Speaker 19:02
definitely impressed.

Zandra Polard 19:03
Oh, well. Thank you. I'm glad I still look the same. You know,

Unknown Speaker 19:08
don't crack and don't crack. But I've been

Zandra Polard 19:10
coming back and forth to Las Vegas shoot sets. I love Fairfax really so since 90. No actually, was it 90 or 91? Something like that. I think it was 90 and had a few kids here had three kids.

Unknown Speaker 19:29
Your kids play any sports can they hook up with Coach Marcus and um, you know

Zandra Polard 19:33
my son you don't get my son is really good with basketball. But my oldest son he actually loves boxing boxing. Yeah, he's a great boxer. And

Unknown Speaker 19:44
so right now what I have in um I have a ring that's in Mexico Tijuana Is this a full it's a full of fighting arena. It's set for stages. Right now I've signed with a company I've Come on board with a company called Live streamers.com. So all the events and different things that we do from now on it'd be able to be purchased or be seen on Pay Per View. So if I'm doing a concert somewhere and you can't make it you can go to our live streaming account and login and get to see it but right now we're doing Bare Knuckle boxing, starting May 6 in Tijuana, and is going down you know, the rules out there is different so they can fight you know, they can get it in and we have a lot of different sponsors. That's a part of that this is something new that I've been dealing with with some people right now. So I'm gonna see what Tijuana look like, you know, to San Diego, hopefully I can get jail felony to come on out there with me the first couple of shows so we can get that San Diego Tijuana mixture together, you know, and that's where we are right now. And then of course, you know me, every Wednesday, I do something called freaky Wednesday's. A private event. It's a private party, good music, good food. We have caterers coming in. And we just have so much fun with some lovely ladies. And then on Saturdays, every Saturday, I have something called exotic entanglements. It's the same format. And it just, it just is just a whole bunch of fun. So if you ever want to come out, you can just text or call 702-849-4274 and I'll get you on the RSVP list and we can start having a lot of fun with it. That's 702-849-2274 Exotic entanglements.

Zandra Polard 21:24
These guys are professional, they know what they're doing. And all that information out. Hey, now I don't know about this Bare Knuckle thing. Because I'm as a mother, you know, I don't really want to see my son fighting you know, but it's something that he's into and he loves

Unknown Speaker 21:43
to see we I feel like we created Bare Knuckle fighting because that's what we do. We grew up finding the backyard we grew up fighting each other's you know our friends we that's what we did every weekend. At school. We fought no one nobody could no no gloves and nothing we was fighting. You know, drinking a beer afterwards. That's kind of how we grew up. But you know, fighting is fine when you're getting paid a check. You know, it's just what it is. The key thing is not to get hit so much so boxer so you don't have to worry about nobody's beard enough. We try to get hit the least you can. Bobby we've bobbing we but you know if your son is boxing, and he's serious, you know, I got a lot of plugs in the sports world, you know, to Mayweather gym, and I deal with his father to a young man named King James always be with me with his father, but not just him. I have a lot of different people that's in the boxing that's, you know, training the kid just like he do with the basketball, I can get the kids to plan. I would like to connect with you a little bit more. I was trying to get started with the other gym that you have. Because, you know, I like to play steel and it's a good workout for some of those older men. You know, that's, you know, not not working out. Everybody don't lift weights, everybody's not curling and some people just run and want to write my

Zandra Polard 23:02
main thing is you want to keep that libido up.

Unknown Speaker 23:04
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. You

Zandra Polard 23:09
know, I'm always trying to throw something in there, where

Unknown Speaker 23:11
we're at a Tarkanian Basketball Academy now. So anytime you want, right, come up and get a run in

Zandra Polard 23:20
Now y'all inviting each other? I haven't gotten one invite. Oh,

Unknown Speaker 23:23
we've we've heard you to come outside, right? No, no, you said

Unknown Speaker 23:28
whenever you want to come out where they're from nine to five. Every day. Okay. Five days a week.

Zandra Polard 23:35
All right. Can I have your number? So? Okay, so

Unknown Speaker 23:38
are you ready to work though?

Unknown Speaker 23:40
So wait a minute.

Unknown Speaker 23:41
Don't be coming in here playing bakery right now you come to the gym, get rid of the ball. No wasted time.

Zandra Polard 23:47
I didn't say anything about the gym.

Unknown Speaker 23:52
Outside you say nothing about the June

Zandra Polard 23:53
Five Finger workout that I do. And it works great for me. So back to the kids. What? How? Sorry, how can they find you?

Unknown Speaker 24:08
They can go on the website. Actually, you can give me a call at 702-302-9410. Or you can go to our website, which is a paragon Academy. nv.com.

Zandra Polard 24:26
All right. And you know that you can find me here every Saturday at 7:30am. And if you do not have time to hear me at that time, and you say dang gone it. I missed it's where I am. You can always find me at www dot it's where I am.com and on all major podcast platforms. And that would be Apple, Spotify, Google and Amazon. Trey, do you want to reiterate where people can find you?

Unknown Speaker 24:58
Well, you can always Find me at my website Tanya lb.com. But on Instagram, I'm telling lb Las Vegas or my personal private page is trade DPG Now those two pages are two different types of things. So the triad trade DPD spelled TR E Y D as in David P as in Paul G as in George, like dark brown gangsters. That's my personal page but my talent file page is just all businesses all what we have coming up movies cast as you know, it that can be pretty much of all ages on that page, but my personal page, it might be a little bit too turnt up for you. So you got to enter that at your own risk. Just letting you know right now we have a lot of fun. There's a lot of beautiful ladies and beautiful people. And we just gonna always have a good time with each other entanglement, entanglement

Zandra Polard 25:46
entanglement. So we'll see you here next week, Saturday 7:30am. Thanks for tuning in. Thanks, guys for being here. I absolutely want to give a shout out to corrupt.
