Good morning Las Vegas, it is entrepreneur card, it's where I am. Today, we're going to be talking about the seven components of mental health. The first being in person therapy, you know, I always recommend a professional. But until you can get to that professional, a lot of times what we do is we call our best friend, or we call a family member, right. And that's great, because you want to get out, you know, your thoughts. You want to work through some things, and it can be difficult to do that with yourself. I mean, you know, we can always start, you know, the cathartic process of writing, which is great. But then, you know, we need to talk to that person. And, you know, before we get to that mental health professional, you know, whether it's for relationships, whether it's for something emotional anxiety, disorder, you know, you never know, there's a lot of assessments that need to be done before you can actually get that professional help. And then you have to go through your insurance carrier and find out, you know, where to go, who takes your insurance, right? So, in person therapy, super important on day number one, then there's community. So we need to get involved in our community, right. But we also when we're talking about community, we're talking about a community of support, right? So we need a community of support in love. Right? Allah lot of times, you know, we'll start venting, negative negatively with our friends or family member. And then we're not getting that sound advice, we're getting stuck in the negative. So I know a lot of times when I'm upset with my husband, I'm gonna call my BFF. And she'll give me some great advice. But your BFF is always going to be on your side. They're not thinking objectively, it's subjective, right? So and that's why it's important to get to that mental health professional, because your way is not always the best way. Next, there's physical health. Now I know I have a hard time going to the gym, you know, I'm supposed to do my walking on the treadmill or, you know, around the block around the park, something like that for 30 minutes, at least 30 minutes a day. And then you have to build up to that, right. So when I go long periods of time, without working out, you know, I have to give myself grace. Right. So I'll start out with maybe three minutes. Next day, I'll add to that, and, you know, give myself five minutes. And before you know it, I'm working out an hour, hour and a half. So make sure you get in that physical exercise. And you know, it's really a nice time to be outside. Yeah, because it's gonna get really hot out here in Las Vegas. And then you'll have to get up super early in the morning. Or, you know, you could go in the evening when the sun goes down, but there's always that indoor gym. However, at this time, take advantage of the sun, get that vitamin D. Get that vitamin A. Right, but don't forget the sunblock. So next, we're going to look at intellectual health. Right? So we have to build our minds. Are you reading a book right now? You know, are you doing your journaling? What are you doing to get your intellectual exercise your intellectual health? Next, number five, is environmental health, your environment can significantly impact your mental state of mind. So, you want to remove some of those stressors that are, you know, affecting your environment. So what could that be? Could that be a relationship that maybe, you know, needs a break me to put it on pause or completely let it go? Is it a social, you know, that would be like a social situation? Or relationships, physical health issues? Are we looking at our diet, you know, I had diabetes, and it's gone. You know, they say, once you have diabetes, you always have diabetes, which means you basically have to keep a check, you know, for the rest of your life. But you're always keeping a check on your health. And hopefully, you're getting that physical, once a year. So anyhow, I had diabetes, or I have diabetes, whichever way it goes. But what happened was, I ended up changing my diet, and I started exercising. I had this little gig, I will call it political gig. And I was doing a lot of walking. And my diabetes, when I went back to the doctor, they said, I don't understand why they say you have diabetes, your sugar levels are phenomenal. So make sure you're getting that physical exercise. Again, that's what kind of goes into the environment as well. Because your physical health infects your, your physical health affects your environment, and then your living conditions. Is your house clean? Did you get in those corners? And you know what I think that's why spring cleaning is time for spring cleaning. is so important. And we don't just do it in spring, right? It should be every season, or getting those baseboards, or getting those corners, or organizing a drawer. You know, I know my stove and refrigerator need a little attention. But anyway, I digress. And so then number six, are those boundaries. Right? What are we letting in? What are we allowing from other people to affect our lives? You know, you have to those boundaries keep you safe. And those boundaries keep you healthy. You know, sometimes I feel like I'm running a hamsters wheel. And I have to say, what's going on, you know, I'm repeating. I'm doing the same thing. And I'm having the same outcome. What am I doing? What am I allowing to happen? Next, my favorite number seven is self care. Now, it's weird how all of these things kind of blend in together. Because see, this is going to take me back to my environment. And it's also going to take me to my physical health. And that is yoga. Yoga is a great stress reliever is great for the mind. It's great for the spirit. And it's awesome, awesome for the body. You know, sometimes like your your lower back. You know, because it's really great for your lower back. It's great for your core. So sometimes those lower back issues are result of the hamstrings. You know, for me anyway, you know, stretching those hamstrings, breathing, letting things out, letting things go and inputting positivity into the mind. So self care, what do you do for self care? It's not always yoga for me. I mean, for me, it's every once in a while I'll do some yoga. What I love is the massage, love having a massage love, love, love grew up getting massages, you know my family is very into massage We massage each other, you know, Thanksgiving time, after we eat, you know, somebody's got to get on the neck, somebody's rubbing a foot, you know, we're giving each other that love. So self care, whether that's getting a little Mani or pedi you know, getting a facial, doing some awesome stretches, that self care. And again, as they blend, self care is also goes along with number six, which is those boundaries, that self care to
taking the time to do the things that are going to MIT to please you. You can't please anyone else, you know, if you're not taking care of you. And often we have to remember that. I don't always remember that. You know. So that's why this show is important. It helps you to remember how to take care of you. And also, you know, we give you resources, what's going on in the community, you know, maybe there's something you want to be a part of. I had a show a couple of weeks ago, entitled, do something different. And that show was about stretching out and trying a little bit of acting. I'm no actress. However, I'm trying something new, something different. You know, I did my first audition. I talked about it a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn't be auditioning. And so I'm getting ready for that preparing. And when I turned in the audition tape, it was a video. I turned it in. And the manager said, no, no, you can't hold on to the to the script, you have to memorize it. And I was like, Oh, Gosh, darn, it took me, you know, 30 minutes, to even build up the courage to put it on video. So now I have to memorize it. So that's the second step. But little by little, you know, as I get involved, and get into this new realm, I how get better. So that's my new thing. What will be yours. And for those who are just tuning in, you know what, let's do a recap on the seven components of mental health. So the first one is in person therapy. You know, there's a lot of pressures and stresses and we need to decompress. And sometimes that's talking to a friend, family member. But again, I always recommend professional help. You know, your friend may not want to listen to you today. You know, your family member might be busy, but you can set an appointment and have everything prepared for for topics you want to discuss and unravel in your own life. Then there was community getting involved with maybe group meetings, there's mentor, run programs, mentor run, mentor lead groups, right. So a lot of times before you can get into that one on one therapy, you can do group therapy. So they have there's a few the few of them on my website. It's where I am.com and they have some for anxiety. They have some for families, they have some for pretty much everything. Just research and find out where those group meetings are. Get involved. Then you have your physical health. I always mentioned yoga even though you know I'm not a daily yoga, daily Yogi as they're called. But I do you know, even if it's just sitting in bed, before I go to sleep, you know, I'll do some breathing. I'll do some stretching. Then you have your intellectual health, exercising that brain reading some books, maybe doing a puzzle, crossword puzzle. Those things are important. I know it's proven that exercising your brain with crossword puzzles, things of that nature helps with Alzheimer's. So then, you have your environmental health. That's number five that's dealing with those daily stressors, stressors and living conditions. You You know, my example was cleaning your home, your room, your car, your workspace, it's amazing how much better not only you feel. But how much better your thought process is, when you're in a clean environment. I think the Bible which, you know, I don't know too many scriptures, but I know the Bible says something about cleanliness is next to godliness, right? Then you have your boundaries, that's number six, want to have those healthy boundaries, you want to get that negativity out of your space, you want to network with people who are like minded. Right? Like minded in the positive, not the negative. Yeah. And then number seven, again, my personal favorite is that self care. And all if they all of them, you know, they kind of blend in together, when you're taking care of your mental health. All seven are all applicable, you know. So, make sure you're taking care of you today. Let's start with now. Now, let's try some deep breathing. Let's relax our minds. Let's take in the positive, let's set some goals for the day. Without the anxiety, right? Let's have that simple cup of tea this morning. Maybe you need coffee, maybe it's time for a little tea. Make sure you have your healthy snacks today. You know, women often will carry, you know some snacks in their purse. But you know, we want to make sure we all have our or access to something healthy, to keep us going and charged for the day until we have that next nice meal. So if I didn't tell you before, I'm telling you now, it is mental health awareness month. And so all month, we will make sure even though the show is about mental health and wellness, sometimes, you know I talk about some other things and kind of lighten the load. But this month, every week, we will stay focused on mental health and wellness. And so we've been talking about those seven components of mental health. And I just want to throw this statistic out to you from the American Psychological Association, that we don't often recognize the acute effects of stress and pressure on our bodies. Until we develop some physical symptoms of mental illness. Don't let it get there people. The emotional stress absolutely affects our bodies. You know, I've been working on some stuff, you know, there's been a lot coming my way. And so I've had to exercise my mental well being my mental health, right. So make sure you're doing the same because stuff is always going to come at you. It's always coming and how we deal with it is the important piece to peace and within ourselves. So make sure you are effectively and accurately practicing those things that make you feel better and are good for your mental health, emotional health and physical well being. So now I would like to give a shout out to a few of our resources that we have. From our resource page on it's where I am.com. These are some of the mental health agencies that are here in Las Vegas. That is peaceful minds. psychiatric services. Dr. Michelle white. Giddings is one of our resources on the page. And she works with children to adults through the lifespan. I also want to give a shout out to Dr. G. From positively kids. They work with children and in adults through the lifespan but their concentration is on the kiddos Uh, so if you if not only you, but the kiddos your child needs

Check out positively kids, I really liked the fact that you know, you can get your physical, you can get your mental, you can get it all, you can get the medical side and you can get the behavioral health side.
