Good morning Las Vegas, it's Zondra pool art. It's where I am. today. My guest is Victor battle, who is a casting director and actor extraordinaire. So I invited Victor here because he does work with youth and adults with casting them and preparing them for auditions. Which is important because you don't want to have your kid walk in the room or yourself. And you don't know how to read script. You don't know what you're doing. You've never had any training. So Vic is here to coach you help you and he also has his own casting studio. Is that right? Called hoop Shots, shots, TV, shots, TV and you can find hoop shots TV, on Instagram. And also
Unknown Speaker 1:49
everything is hooked shot TV all the social media platform. Okay. Tick tock is shots.
Unknown Speaker 1:55
Check out what he does. You know, Vic used to be back in the day he was Michael Jordan's body double. Yeah. So that's how you kind of started then you start helping kids. I know. You started with your son first.
Unknown Speaker 2:11
Yeah, well, I guess I started um, well given guys. My age at the time, were a little younger than me to opportunities like Nike would call me and then I will call the other guys that I felt may fit the criteria.
Unknown Speaker 2:27
Well, I know you got my cousin like a huge sprite commercial, right? Yes, right. Yeah. Sean inches Jackson. So he did the sprite commercial with the basketball that Steve curry tried to imitate
Unknown Speaker 2:40
what a cool thing about you know, what's ironic about what's his interest you bring Shawn inches up because he is a star within his own rights. And majority of the people that I work with are our new industry. But inches actually was more like a colleague because me him. You know, he's a star from Slamball. Right? So me and him were doing commercials coming up. Next, he sent me a text of Oh, print job that we did together. But then he pulled away from the business. And then he came back to the business. And he used who shots to promote in market himself to get him back in the mix. Okay. That's when he went and did a couple movies. What does he actually interested? What is that winning time? He booked it to us? He's got
Unknown Speaker 3:29
oh my gosh, is he winning time? Was he in the new season in
Unknown Speaker 3:32
the new season? He shot? Hey, Larry Bird does something new is that and he worked on? Some independent projects we have. He's in Cheyenne kings. If you're looking at he's in that with us. And you know, so he'll be doing more stuff with us and NXT bring us lampo back.
Unknown Speaker 3:50
Yes, I heard slimeballs coming back to Las Vegas. Right.
Unknown Speaker 3:54
It is gonna be so young is actually we'll we'll be working with inches. Rounding up basketball players that are interested in getting with Slamball was unofficial we I'll be
Unknown Speaker 4:10
a little something about it. You know, and I know Shawn, you're gonna kill me, because you're supposed to be here talking about it. But we'll set that up. I promise you gotta get into. Yeah. So that's how you and my cousin. Were business colleagues, friends or whatever from doing those type of things back in the day. But a big reason why I wanted you here is because my son who is 14 years old. I'm trying to convince him that he needs to take acting or excuse me drama as an elective in school, or at least participate in a play, so that he will be prepared not only for the business, because he has to have the desire but also doing that will help him with his public speaking. For example, right, confident
Unknown Speaker 5:08
Yeah, absolutely right. And, you know, they, one of the things even now when colleges, they allow the athletes to do commercials and with their name likeness and that they have to make money now. And, you know, I myself, I got to be in criminal justice, but I stopped and I was in the theater program, okay. And I was in the play, and parts of parts of presents. And at that time I played, I was just a pirate and putting down the seed has been planted in one as it produces some stuff, I do wonder the project I will be doing is redoing that plant and I want to play the the Major General, okay. It was something you know, we fancy that guy and I actually listened to it now on my Apple Music, the maiden was part. So sometimes you plant that seed, and you know that one of the things I tell people is, if it's like, if you were playing basketball, you playing football, you playing tennis or you're even something, you're going to have practice where people get together and work out. With the acting, you can get to get to that as well, where you're not just looking at thinking your natural, and just going to go on and do it. Actually, hey, let's get together and do this act of worship and work on our stuff. And then when opportunities come up, it's not the first first time that we're doing it. We're already rolling just like an NBA player, Carmelo Anthony, he was out of the NBA. And while he's waiting on the team, he was going to the LA Fitness is playing with local guys that he got caught up in the playing with the Lakers because he was already rolling. Okay, same principle, we're acting for myself, like I, I work on my techniques and things of that nature. And then when I get a project or a job, I'm so vested in it in in, you know, you got to obsess because those that are people that that those abusive, people want to hide.
Unknown Speaker 7:10
It's been a while I've been practicing. So for me, when I first started, you know, taping my shows, it was really difficult for me to stare into the camera and just talk, right? So it takes practice, and then being able to do it more than once. My son, Donovan, who's in the building, he had his first role when he was about seven years old. And that was like, well, thank God, they only had to do it once. But but he did it. He did it. Yeah, yeah. In this
Unknown Speaker 7:49
day. It's just like, Lebron James. plays ball. very accomplished, but he still goes practice. Halle Berry. With the get her Oscar work with Ivana Chubbuck, she actually thanked if you watch it, the very book that I tell people, the techniques that I study is a lady her name. Ivana Chubbuck. She's an acting coach, okay, but it's kind of tough to get her class, but you're going to
Unknown Speaker 8:20
be Halle, Mary, okay, we can get the book, if you're not Halle Berry and get the book, you know,
Unknown Speaker 8:24
and you know, so it's, you know, it's techniques and stuff. It's just, you know, again, like I said, people obsess and those people that we want to say,
Unknown Speaker 8:34
you know, if you don't have access to someone like that, you got Victor bateau, who is available sometimes. Well,
Unknown Speaker 8:42
that's the reason I came on here in Vegas. If you are a primary work with new people, if you are looking to get into the entertainment industry, or definitely get a Kinect in Hollywood, that's real and you know, not gonna waste your time. And you're serious about it, you know, I can definitely get you in the right direction. Some,
Unknown Speaker 9:06
you know, because you, you were mentioning the basketball. And what came to mind for me was Jamie Foxx. Like he started out playing football. And then I think he did a play or something. Oh, yeah. And then that's how he got the book. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 9:20
See ya. See ya and, you know, you work on it. We've like we got a couple of independent movies just came out yesterday with my clients and this one on Tubi right now. Hot chicks. I'm actually a net that comes out. We got his foot of streets were my best buddies in Hinds, isn't it? We are shining kings is out. Big and movies. You know, like White Men Can't Jump Part Two comes out May 16. I'm actually in that I got to top my clients in that. We worked on that last year. We're Another some projects coming up with Paul Goldsby. Producer, right here in Vegas, Director Chavez. Our Chavez is doing a movie called Candy Rain. So these are projects that I'm looking for people, you know, currently.
Unknown Speaker 10:15
Ah, okay. Yeah, just mostly males are nice
Unknown Speaker 10:18
everything like, you know, I need another chair, and are both all liberals, you know, those projects, all age groups. What I usually start out with bringing people in is the extras in the featured extras. It didn't go from near to see who wants to try and do like speak in line and, and try to work on this stuff. But yeah, we got projects working now. I'm here in Vegas.
Unknown Speaker 10:40
It's just not in LA, you can get some work out here. If you're interested. Well,
Unknown Speaker 10:44
you can definitely get the I can work with people in terms of coaching, but most of the stuff is LA. Down here is really if you want to link up to to work on your brain. I can help you with that. You don't
Unknown Speaker 10:57
mind me right now?
Unknown Speaker 10:58
Personally, just in general.
Unknown Speaker 10:59
Why are you asking me personally?
Unknown Speaker 11:02
Well, I mean, to the people, it was both Hey, you ready? You got the flair. You know?
Unknown Speaker 11:08
I've come a long way since our first interview we did one two years ago. I was like COVID time and you were in the car? Yeah
Unknown Speaker 11:18
called in this right? Yeah, even you know like I was telling you later on when we met. You have nice upbeat personality. qualities you look
Unknown Speaker 11:30
like somebody Avery emailed
Unknown Speaker 11:32
me shook a re P member shook every full color purple. I do not look like her will have a feistiness. Okay, like so gay. re definitely. Okay, I'll accept that. Yeah, even like your your, you know, you have a nice little pep in your step
Unknown Speaker 11:50
is just, I can tell you've been doing this forever, because you're just like, really mellow. Like, yeah, I'm a Hollywood casting director. If you want to find me, you can go to hoop shots TV.
Unknown Speaker 12:06
Oh, no. You know, even just some is just for me. When you is the energy, you know. And I guess you know, it comes practice I guess. Yeah,
Unknown Speaker 12:23
you know, there's a lot of people coming out here to do work with the movies in Las Vegas now. I mean, before it was like an issue with I think permits or finding places. Now it's like, you know, I know quite a few people who are doing some films out here and then
Unknown Speaker 12:43
you know, I work with my buddy out here is Trey from talent lb. And they have a new facility and that's what we'll probably be doing our training. Okay, now he's got to us nice but out here. Nice. Yes, it will be that's what I'll be training people at. Okay, so
Unknown Speaker 12:59
when is the next? Casting What do you call it? Like when people are auditioning? Well, right.
Unknown Speaker 13:06
Well, I mean, far fetched for right now. I'm April knife I'm doing with the NBA we we have a thing with balling for peace we looking for guys? And they in Miami? Oh,
Unknown Speaker 13:18
okay. Wait, let me let me preface because I forgot to tell the people that you also have basketball players who play just before the professional
Unknown Speaker 13:33
games. Do tell us your cases with the NBA. So basically, your client in mind's eye. I partner with the NBA for like their pregame shows, halftime shows. And we do a one on one for for court. And it's for guys to get some exposure. So if you ever wanted to play in a basket on an NBA court, that's another reason to sign up. That's because you get to do that as well. Nice. And then we do fashion shows at the NBA games, too. So models basketball players of all ages. Yeah. All ages. Want to do is you know back in the day, yeah. You get a Papa. Yeah, got a little runway experience here. But yeah, it's just a platform even for artists we have we played in music at the games and all that. We're just looking to create more pure hip hop. People using add more to your culture nation, you just happen to get into your creative and that's what I just tried to stay in my creative and you've
Unknown Speaker 14:31
been doing it for so long. I mean, you definitely know what you're doing.
Unknown Speaker 14:35
You know? What was it I was watching Batman in the Joker, so the Joker goes in. He's telling the guys you know, he could stop that man. And then he's like, Well, why don't you do it? He says, if you do something, well, you said you should never do something. If you do something well, you should never do for free. And as you know, my coaching in my,
Unknown Speaker 15:06
that means there is a charge if you'd like to be involved, that's great, but there is a fee.
Unknown Speaker 15:11
Why is it is a fee?
Unknown Speaker 15:13
Is it still 10%? Or is it 20%?
Unknown Speaker 15:17
The way this the way business work for me, like I always say money is professional. So to be in a casting network and database there doesn't, there isn't. There's no money involved. Because it's a win win situation. Like you and I, if we put you in our database, and they pick you to be in,
Unknown Speaker 15:37
why should already be in there? Well, you still have, you
Unknown Speaker 15:41
know, then they pick you to be in that we just understand that. If you make whatever you make 20%, you would agree to pay us now when my retainer comes in, is if a person wants me to coach them? Or do the on camera program? That's when we had to retain it. Okay. Yeah, but hey, welcome, everyone come home shots on IG home shots, follow us. You know, anybody can be in submit. That's how that works. So, okay, so
Unknown Speaker 16:10
who shots is located in North Las Vegas?
Unknown Speaker 16:14
No, we were. We have a new facility out here with within the talent power facility that's in in Vegas. And I mean, we tell the power. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 16:24
Because I went to those shots. So we had to Jim
Unknown Speaker 16:28
Right, right. The gym so this is a different Yeah, yeah. We're not in the gym facility. Now. We just in the casting. Oh,
Unknown Speaker 16:35
okay. Excuse me two spots. Okay, so Where's where's the second spot?
Unknown Speaker 16:39
Well, it's, I don't have the address on me. But is, you know, we kind
Unknown Speaker 16:43
of take the we bought point they can find information at you by appointment only
Unknown Speaker 16:48
when they come in and not just, you can't just go,
Unknown Speaker 16:51
oh, yeah, so don't just pop up. You want to go to his website, or you
Unknown Speaker 16:57
go to Instagram is who shots or our, the phone number for headshots is 3238417968384176.
Unknown Speaker 17:10
I'm sorry, I interrupted you is 323 area code and 8417968.
Unknown Speaker 17:14
So
Unknown Speaker 17:18
give him a call, check out his IG see if it's something that you or your child, your niece, your cousin, your girlfriend, your brother would like to participate and be involved in? Hey, learning something new is a great thing. I mean, I had never done radio until three years ago. And here I am. You know, I was. I was shy when? You know, I had a guest on last week. And I was telling him I said, you know, you were the first person to get me to talk on radio. I would not speak. I will give a phone number. But I wouldn't,
Unknown Speaker 17:55
because you had to take it in. Yeah, it's you know, you know, when I was in high school, I had a coach, his name was Ray mccrane. And he's a football coach. Well, I didn't play football. I played two years, but either way, we had a cool relationship. And he'd always see me say Vic, the only thing that stopped me stopping you is fear near. And then anytime I walk down the hall, he go like this. It ain't much earring here, baby. Yeah. Okay. So, you know, it's just, you know, for myself, I, you know, I always look inside myself. And I had, I felt like I met that if I have to face my fears, that's why you have to do that. And then do you know, you, you realize, well, I realize I don't say you can talk to other people. But I realized that what I thought was anxiety was more anticipation. Okay, you know, yeah. And then you start to correlate start looking forward to the anticipation. And then I just mastered it, and just incorporate it into, you know, my lifestyle and my, my flow, and then we do acting and stuff is, you know, second nature, and
Unknown Speaker 19:10
now you're helping other people. So I think,
Unknown Speaker 19:14
you know, is I feel like, you know, my, you know, Buddhist principles is you know, you do stuff for other people. You're not affected by delusions, and in so I feel like it's selfless acts.
Unknown Speaker 19:27
Yeah, that's I say always be of service to others, right, which is basically what you just said. Hey, go no, okay.
Unknown Speaker 19:34
Yeah, definitely. Look for new talent in Vegas. So we do the headshots. I don't know if you've ever if people haven't had their photo taken a professional shot, shoot before we do your headshots.
Unknown Speaker 19:48
No, they haven't. And I have to interject and say that when I was working in a different space, I would always I would need like the headshots to write, and there are so many professionals that do not have them. And so not only for what you do, everyone, just please just get a professional headshot, and have it on deck. Have it ready. I'm just saying, Yeah, we
Unknown Speaker 20:14
do you know, we don't have Vegas, we'll be doing it. And I do especially because when I do it, you know, we'll probably probably even partner with you, you know, like that one, I'll make the announcement for you. And I'm coming to get two headshots done, have the resume, and then really get in the right direction and go after it. Now
Unknown Speaker 20:34
what have you what if you don't have a resume? You just want to do the headshots. And then what do you do?
Unknown Speaker 20:39
Now you could just do like, you can just do two headshots with us and and
Unknown Speaker 20:43
say maybe I want to try and and I'll do extra work first. Right? To get understanding of being in space in the area of taking direction. Right, exactly. Now, you also we talked about with shots TV, we talked about you being a casting director. We've talked about you working with the NBA. And we gave you information about hoop shots TV, how to find you on Instagram. I want to know you have a love interest in your life. Yeah. Who is a singer?
Unknown Speaker 21:19
That's why you say say the fun. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 21:21
And you know, we were involved in this. Something you were doing out here with Bow Bow.
Unknown Speaker 21:28
Bow TV vows. Fantastic. And we did it with rap a lot with records. One of my clients shout out to
Unknown Speaker 21:37
rap. What is it called? West was it called Revilla with rap a lot when you're wrapping up. A lot of people call me about that.
Unknown Speaker 21:45
Yeah, it was they really do. And, and, and you know, say she's a real singer. He's got some great music out.
Unknown Speaker 21:55
She came out on that stage with her gown on.
Unknown Speaker 21:58
Set it down. Oh, she
Unknown Speaker 21:59
shut it down. I think she had about 32 inches knockout what a split up the side. singing about some pajamas. So since she's in studio, which I normally do not do this because a lot of people think because I'm on radio. That I'm a disc jockey. I am not a disc jockey. Sometimes you may hear me live with Glenn sometimes on 91.5 for you know, between five to seven, every blue moon, but since she is in the building, I'm gonna have her to sing us. How do you see? Oh yeah, I got two minutes left. Let's have her sing us out. Fufu so Shayla is in the building and I just want her to sing us out of here. It's where I am. Is every Saturday at 7:30am You can find me also on all your major plant podcast platforms, Apple, Spotify, Google and Amazon. And I won't be here next week. We'll see you then and che Shayla Sing us out
Unknown Speaker 23:07
you see me doing big things now
Unknown Speaker 23:15
what a smile on my face Let me save you let me give you Oh everyone knows on the nicest places I go I stay right shirt is sold out arenas. I'm turning the heat up by bringing the I've been excited man. Keep your eyes on me. Me gotten a million people this watch in so let them keep watching.
